Several public buses service Georgetown University, Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and the Georgetown neighborhood.

Capitol Campus
Several public buses service the Capitol Campus. For timetables and maps of each route please view the WMATA timetables.
- The X2 and X9 buses stop at North Capitol & H St. NW and connect to metro stations Gallery Place-Chinatown (Red, Green and Yellow Lines), Metro Center (Red, Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines), and Union Station (Red Line).
- The 80 bus stops at North Capitol and H St. NW and connects to metro stations Gallery Place-Chinatown (Red, Green, and Yellow Lines) and Metro Center (Red, Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines) to the west, and to the east stops at Union Station (Red Line) before continuing north.
- The 96 bus stops at New Jersey & H St. and connects to Union Station (Red Line).
- The P6 bus stops at K St. NW & 1st St. NW. It connects to Metro Center (Red, Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines), Gallery Place-Chinatown (Red, Green, and Yellow Lines), as well as points north and points south such as Navy Yard.
Metrobus fares start at $2 and are paid with cash, a SmarTrip® card, or a virtual SmartTrip card on your mobile device upon boarding. Daily, weekly, and monthly discounted bus passes are available as well. Buy SmarTrip® cards online, at any Metrorail station, or at many convenient locations.
If you use more than one bus to reach your destination, use a SmarTrip®card to receive a free bus-to-bus transfer within a two-hour period. If connecting to Metrorail, enjoy a discounted fare. No transfer discounts are provided with cash fare payment.
DC Circulator
The Rosslyn – Dupont DC Circulator route is being phased out on October 1, 2024. The Georgetown – Union Station route will continue service until December 31, 2024. While the DC Circulator will be phased out, there is new bus service proposed for 2025 that will replace the current routes. You can view the proposed 2025 BetterBus network here and more information on how WMATA is supporting the transition. The routes proposed that are most relevant to our community include D82, D92, D94, D96.

Metrorail
Hilltop Campus
While there is not a Metrorail station in Georgetown, the free university GUTS shuttles connect Georgetown University with the Dupont Circle metro station (Red Line) via the Dupont Circle route and the Rosslyn metro station (Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines) via the Rosslyn route.
Capitol Campus
Union Station (Red Line) is a 7 minute walk. Enter at 1st St. NE & G St. NE.
Gallery Place-Chinatown (Red, Green, Yellow) is a 14 minute walk. Enter at H & 7th NW.
Metrorail fares start at $2 and vary by time of day, day of the week the trip is taken (categorized as peak and off-peak times) and the distance traveled between the origin and destination stations.
