Transportation Options for the Capitol Campus

As the fall semester approaches, please review the following important information on parking and transportation options at the Capitol Campus.

Improved Capitol Campus Shuttles

After collecting feedback and data on express shuttles this past spring, we are happy to share that we have simplified the route between the Hilltop and Capitol campuses and increased pickup from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes to reduce transit time between campuses.

Shuttle routes and timetables can be viewed on the shuttles page. Stops for the routes between the Hilltop and Capitol campuses include:

  • Hilltop Campus Bus Turnaround (McDonough Gymnasium)
  • Capitol Campus Bus Turnaround (2nd Street NW, between F and G Streets NW)
  • 111 Massachusetts Avenue NW
  • 55 H Street NW (before 8 a.m and after 6 p.m. on weekdays)

Please note there are additional shuttles that travel around the Capitol Campus area:

  • The 55H Weekend Shuttle will remain the same for Fall 2025 as it was this past spring semester.
  • To connect riders to points of interest across the Capitol Campus, we will be expanding the Union Station Loop to offer daytime hours for select stops. This loop will augment the new Capitol Campus Shuttle route and replace the previous on-call service during weekdays.
  • The Gallery Place Loop will maintain the same route it ran previously.

Parking at 111 Massachusetts Avenue

111 Massachusetts Avenue NW has a large parking garage underneath the building, accessible to Georgetown University faculty, staff, students and invited guests. Access to the garage is on the south side of H Street, between 2nd Street and New Jersey Avenue NW. Please see below for information on parking in this garage:

  • Monthly Parking (Faculty and Staff)
    • Existing monthly parkers have been added to the License Plate Recognition parking management system. Those interested in signing up for monthly parking at 111 Mass. Ave. can register for payroll deductions through GMS.
  • Daily Parking (Faculty, Staff and Students): Through Wednesday, September 17, daily parking will be free of charge for those with a GOCard and invited guests while we complete the installation of necessary parking technology.
    • Daytime: Rates are $5.00 per hour, with a maximum of $25.00 a day.
    • Evening Parking (after 4:30 p.m.): Beginning in mid-September, evening parking after 4:30 p.m. will be a $8 flat rate.
  • Department Visitors: Submit the request form at least two business days in advance.
  • Parking Onsite Support: During the month of September, for questions related to parking at 111 Mass. Ave. or to return equipment/hangtags, please visit an OTM representative in the lobby of 111 Mass. Ave., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 2-6 p.m.
