University Visitors

Welcome to Georgetown University!  Whether you are visiting our Admissions Office, taking a campus tour, attending a Georgetown Athletics event, or participating in one of the many other activities on campus, Georgetown University is accessible for visitors in many ways.

Georgetown University is committed to sustainability and encourages visitors to travel to campus via methods other than driving whenever possible. Visitors can take public transportation or bike to campus, use our free shuttle buses, or travel using a carsharing or ridesharing service. For those who do drive to campus, the university provides a limited number of visitor parking spaces in the Southwest Garage, accessible from Canal Road. On-street parking around campus is severely limited and we do not encourage visitors to look for on-street parking.

Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS)

The GUTS bus is a free shuttle bus that connects Georgetown University with the Rosslyn Metrorail station on the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines; the Dupont Circle Metrorail station on the Red Line; the Georgetown University Law Center; the U.S. House of Representatives; and Arlington, Virginia. Public Transportation

Georgetown University is well served by a number of public transportation routes, including Metrobus, Metrorail, and the DC Circulator bus. Read more about taking the bus or train to and from campus. 

Taxis and Ridesharing

University visitors taking a taxi or ridesharing service like Uber or Lyft should arrive at the university front gates at 37th & O Streets, NW. There is also a taxi stand at the Leavey Center Hotel and Conference Center. Read more about taxis and ridesharing services.

Visitor Parking

Georgetown University offers a limited amount of parking for visitors in the Southwest Garage, accessible via Canal Road. Read more about visitor parking and rates. Visitor parking is currently cash only. 

The university strongly discourages visitors from parking on the streets around campus. 

Directions to Campus

Visitors should use 3611 Canal Road, NW, Washington, DC 20057 as the address to arrive at the Southwest Garage when mapping directions using GPS. Click here for detailed driving directions to campus from various locations in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. 

Car2Go

Car2Go is a point-to-point carsharing service that allows users to start their trip in one location and finish it in another. Car2Go vehicles can be parked in most on-street spaces and there are four designated Car2Go parking spaces on campus. Click here to learn more about Car2Go. 

Zipcar

Zipcar is a carsharing service that allows users to rent cars by the hour and is an option for visitors making short trips to campus. Visitors must return cars to the same space where they began their trip. Click here to learn more about Zipcar.

Capital Bikeshare

Capital Bikeshare is a point-to-point bikesharing system in Washington, DC. Users can rent a bike at one location and return it to another. There is a Capital Bikeshare station at the university front gates at 37th & O Street, NW. Click here to learn more about Capital Bikeshare. 

Airport Information

Visitors flying to Washington, DC to visit Georgetown University can fly into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Dulles International Airport (IAD), or Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)

Amtrak, Commuter Rail, and Intercity Buses

Visitors traveling by train or bus to Washington, DC to visit Georgetown University arrive at Union Station. Visit the Union Station website for information about traveling to Washington, DC on Amtrak, commuter rail services like MARC and VRE, and most intercity bus lines.
