Key Bridge Sidewalk Closures
DDOT to Close Sidewalks on Francis Scott Key Bridge
Sunday, August 6, through Friday, October 6, 2017
(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close sidewalks on the Francis Scott Key Bridge, alternating between southbound toward Rosslyn, Va., and northbound toward Georgetown.
The closures start Sunday, August 6, and last through Friday, October 6, weather permitting. They will occur 8 pm to 5 am, Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday. Tuesday and Wednesday nights are reserved as alternate workdays.
During the closures, pedestrian and bicycle access on the bridge will shift to the side not undergoing work. Marked sidewalk detours will be in place.
The closures are a part of the ongoing Key Bridge Rehabilitation Project and allow for the repair and repainting of the bridge’s steel rails.
Pedestrians and bicyclists are advised to stay alert while traveling through this work area.
The mission of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is to enhance the quality of life for District residents and visitors by ensuring that people, goods, and information move efficiently and safely with minimal adverse impact on residents and the environment.
